Fed up with cooler boxes that didn't work properly and had only been in use for one season, brothers Roy and Ryan Seiders founded Yeti in 2006.
As kids, Roy and Ryan already spent a lot of time outdoors with their father. Fishing, hunting and travelling. However the positive experiences they had were often overshadowed by the frustration of inadequate cooler boxes. More often than not, these didn't withstand the family's demands and often failed after just one season. Driven by frustration, Yeti Coolers was born with the mission to develop a cooler box that could withstand all the elements, keep cool for a long time and be used every day.
Product development with the customer in mind
When developing the cooler boxes, the company pays special attention to empirical values, not data and market analyses. The product innovations are often developed together with the needs and necessities of the customers. This results in products that show strength both in the most remote places globally or at a backyard barbecue at home.
Especially for fishermen, hunters and campers in the forests of North America, special features are necessary. All the cooler boxes in the Tundra series are bear-proof so that a wild grizzly won't be attracted to the freshly caught salmon in the cooler and then bite it. For this development, Yeti Coolers worked together with the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee, a US Department of Agriculture unit that specialises in bears.
Yeti Coolers combines the outdoors with the comfort of chilled food
In addition to the sturdy cooler boxes, Yeti also produces drinking cups, bags and transport boxes. In other words, almost everything offers the great comfort of cooled drinks and food for outdoor life or an excursion into nature. The Ice line provides you with the proper cold packs, the Rambler family with robust drink containers and the Camino and Panga bags with protective storage space for your next outdoor excursion. The transport boxes and the sturdy work buckets also look really good in a workshop, as their strong material means they won't succumb to the stresses of tools.
Sustainability at Yeti Coolers
Because Roy and Ryan felt deeply connected to nature in their early years, the topic of sustainability is also a central one for the Yeti brand today. Thus, Yeti's motto is: "Keep the Wild wild".
Durability is the keyword for Yeti Coolers products. The robustness of the coolers and other products makes them durable and, therefore, also sustainable. There is no need to replace parts or buy new products with Yeti Coolers, as they are almost indestructible. The products come with a 3 or 5-year warranty.
Today, it is impossible to imagine the outdoor industry without a cooler box from Yeti Coolers. Cooler boxes and drinking cups from the brand appear in many outdoor films, and big names in outdoor sports rely on the products.
